Ingredients

  • For the Banana Split:
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas, peeled and split lengthwise
  • 1 scoop strawberry ice cream
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
  • 1 scoop chocolate ice cream
  • Toppings:
  • 2 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • 2 tbsp strawberry sauce or puree
  • 2 tbsp pineapple sauce (optional but traditional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts (walnuts or peanuts)
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • 2 maraschino cherries
  • Optional: Sprinkles, shredded coconut, or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Bananas : Peel the bananas and slice each lengthwise using a sharp knife. Arrange the halves along the sides of a long banana split dish or shallow bowl.
  • Step 2: Add the Ice Cream : Place three scoops of ice cream in the center — strawberry on one end, vanilla in the middle, and chocolate on the other end. Make sure the scoops touch the banana halves slightly for that classic presentation.
  • Step 3: Add the Sauces : Drizzle chocolate syrup over the chocolate scoop. Pour strawberry sauce over the strawberry scoop. Add pineapple sauce (or caramel) over the vanilla scoop for a bright tropical touch.
  • Step 4: Add Toppings : Pipe or spoon whipped cream on top of each scoop. Sprinkle chopped nuts for crunch. Add maraschino cherries on top of the whipped cream dollops. If desired, add sprinkles, coconut flakes, or chocolate chips for extra color and flavor.
  • Step 5: Serve and Enjoy : Serve immediately before the ice cream melts. Enjoy the creamy, fruity, and chocolatey perfection with every bite!
