Ingredients

  • For the Turkey Meatballs:
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the BBQ Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • For the Mashed Potatoes:
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup milk (or more, for desired consistency)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat Oven : Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Step 2: Prepare Meatballs : In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, onion, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix to keep meatballs tender. Shape into 1½-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Step 3: Bake Meatballs : Bake meatballs for 15–20 minutes, until cooked through and lightly golden.
  • Step 4: Coat Meatballs with BBQ Sauce : In a small bowl, mix barbecue sauce and honey. Toss baked meatballs in the sauce until evenly coated. Return to the oven for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
  • Step 5: Prepare Mashed Potatoes : While meatballs bake, place potatoes in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Boil 15–20 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  • Step 6: Serve : Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates. Top with BBQ turkey meatballs and drizzle any extra sauce. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired.
