Beef Meatballs with Marinara Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • For the Meatballs:
  • 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for browning)
  • For the Marinara Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Mix beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, egg, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Step 2: Shape into 1.5-inch meatballs.
  • Step 3: Brown meatballs in olive oil for 5–7 minutes.
  • Step 4: Sauté onions and garlic in olive oil for sauce.
  • Step 5: Add crushed tomatoes, sugar, and seasonings; simmer 5 minutes.
  • Step 6: Add meatballs to sauce, cover, and simmer 20–25 minutes.
  • Step 7: Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
