Ingredients

  • For the Brownies:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • For the Caramel Pecan Layer:
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies (or store-bought caramel squares)
  • 2–3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 cup pecan halves, lightly toasted
  • For the Chocolate Drizzle:
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil or butter

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan : Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  • Step 2: Make the Brownie Batter : In a medium saucepan, melt butter and chopped semi-sweet chocolate over low heat until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until combined. Add eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until smooth. Pour brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Step 3: Bake the Brownies : Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before adding the caramel layer.
  • Step 4: Prepare the Caramel Layer : Melt caramel candies with heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Pour the caramel evenly over the cooled brownies. Sprinkle toasted pecan halves over the caramel, pressing lightly to adhere. Chill in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to set the caramel slightly.
  • Step 5: Add Chocolate Drizzle : Melt chocolate chips with oil or butter in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth. Drizzle melted chocolate over the caramel and pecans using a spoon or piping bag. Allow chocolate to set at room temperature or in the fridge for 10–15 minutes.
  • Step 6: Cut and Serve : Lift the brownies out of the pan using parchment paper. Cut into 16 squares using a sharp knife. Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled.
