- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chunks)
- Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Prepare the Dough Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until well combined.
Add Chocolate Chips Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using) with a spatula.
Shape the Cookies Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded spoonfuls of dough, leaving about 2 inches of space between each.
Bake the Cookies Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers look slightly soft. Allow cookies to rest on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
