Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced (about ¼ cup)
  • 1–2 jalapeños, seeded and finely minced (adjust to taste)
  • 1 medium tomato, diced (optional for chunkiness)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Salt to taste (start with ½ teaspoon)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 1 small clove garlic, finely minced or crushed (optional)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Avocados : Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl. Mash gently using a fork or potato masher until you reach your preferred texture — smooth or slightly chunky.
  • Step 2: Add Flavor : Add diced onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt. Mix everything gently until combined.
  • Step 3: Adjust and Finish : Taste and adjust seasoning — add more lime juice or salt if needed. If using tomatoes or garlic, fold them in at this stage.
  • Step 4: Serve Immediately : Transfer to a serving bowl, cover with plastic wrap touching the surface to prevent browning, and serve fresh.
