Ingredients

  • For the Pasta
  • 12 oz (340 g) fettuccine or penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Protein
  • 12 oz shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz smoked sausage, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
  • For the Creamy Cajun Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook Pasta : Boil pasta in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Cook Sausage : In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Cook sliced sausage until browned and slightly crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Cook Shrimp : In the same skillet, sauté shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with sausage.
  • Prepare the Sauce : Melt butter in the skillet. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, heavy cream, and chicken broth. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until sauce slightly thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Combine Protein and Pasta : Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted. Return cooked shrimp and sausage to the skillet, mixing well. Add cooked pasta and toss until pasta is coated in creamy Cajun sauce.
  • Serve : Transfer to plates or a serving dish. Garnish with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan if desired.
