- 1 lb (450 g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for extra aroma)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- For the Garlic Butter Mushroom Stir-Fry:
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (plus 1 tbsp for later)
- 1 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz (225 g) mushrooms (button, cremini, or shiitake), sliced
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra depth)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Salt u0026 pepper, to taste
Marinate Beef : In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. Set aside for at least 10 minutes.
Sear Beef : Heat 1 tbsp butter and olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned but still slightly pink inside. Remove beef and set aside.
Cook Mushrooms : In the same pan, add another 1 tbsp butter. Sauté garlic for 20 seconds until fragrant. Add mushrooms and cook for 4–5 minutes until golden and tender.
Make Sauce : Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze and mix flavors.
Combine : Return beef to the pan, toss with mushrooms, and stir in the final tbsp of butter until melted and glossy. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
Serve Hot : Sprinkle with parsley if desired and serve immediately.
