  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • For Assembly:
  • 4 sandwich buns or brioche rolls, lightly toasted
  • 4 leaves romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • Optional: tomato slices, red onion rings, or cheese slices

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Fish : Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Set up three shallow bowls: One with flour ,One with beaten eggs,One with breadcrumbs ,Dredge each fish fillet in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the egg mixture, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs. Place coated fillets on a plate while heating your pan.
  • Step 2: Cook the Fish : Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the fillets for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp. Transfer cooked fillets to a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Step 3: Make the Tartar Sauce : In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, chopped pickles, capers, lemon juice, mustard, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use — chilling helps the flavors meld beautifully.
  • Step 4: Assemble the Sandwich : Lightly toast the sandwich buns or brioche rolls. Spread a generous amount of tartar sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Add a layer of lettuce (and tomato slices if using). Place a crispy fish fillet on top. Spoon a little extra tartar sauce on the fish and cap with the top bun.
