  • For the Apple Filling
  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Turnovers
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the apple filling by cooking diced apples with butter, sugar, and spices until softened.
  • Thicken the mixture with cornstarch slurry, then allow it to cool.
  • Roll out puff pastry and cut into 8 equal squares.
  • Add a spoonful of apple filling to each square and fold over to form a triangle.
  • Seal edges, brush with egg wash, and bake until golden and flaky.
  • Prepare the glaze and drizzle over warm turnovers before serving.
