Ingredients
  

  • 4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ½ cup dry white wine (or sherry)
  • 8 cups beef broth (or a mix of beef and chicken broth)
  • 2 bay leaves
