Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups (250 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (85 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

For the Toppings u0026 Decoration:

  • 1 cup chocolate pudding (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
  • 12 oval or rectangular cookies (like Milano or shortbread) for tombstones
  • 1 cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (for “dirt”)
  • Black or chocolate decorating gel (to write RIP)
  • Gummy worms, candy bones, or Halloween sprinkles (optional for décor)

Instructions

  • Bake the Brownies Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold into wet mixture until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Allow brownies to cool completely before decorating.
  • Make the “Graveyard Dirt” Layer Spread an even layer of chocolate pudding over the cooled brownies. Top with a layer of whipped cream. Sprinkle crushed sandwich cookies on top to create a “dirt” effect.
  • Create the Tombstones Using decorating gel, write “RIP” or other spooky phrases on cookies. Insert cookies upright into the brownies like tombstones.
  • Add Final Decorations Place gummy worms crawling out of the dirt or scatter candy bones. Optionally, dust with cocoa powder or Halloween sprinkles for a chilling effect.
