Step 1: Prepare the Pizza Dough : In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix and knead until a smooth dough forms (about 5–7 minutes). Cover and let rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size. (If using store-bought dough, skip to Step 2.)
Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef : Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned (about 6–8 minutes). Add onion and garlic, and sauté until fragrant and soft (2–3 minutes). Stir in oregano, Italian seasoning, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
Step 3: Assemble the Pizza : Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness (about 12 inches wide). Transfer to parchment paper for easy handling. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch from the edges. Add the cooked ground beef mixture evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese and a little Parmesan if desired.
Step 4: Bake : Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated baking sheet or stone. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Step 5: Finish and Serve : Remove from the oven and let rest for 2–3 minutes. Top with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil if desired. Slice and serve hot!
