Ingredients

  • For the French Toast:
  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast work best)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup milk (or half-and-half for richer flavor)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Butter or oil, for cooking
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional Toppings:
  • Maple syrup
  • Fresh berries
  • Whipped cream
  • Powdered sugar
  • Nut butter

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Coating : In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon until well combined. Set aside.
  • Step 2: Make the Egg Mixture : In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Step 3: Prepare the Bread : Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Let excess mixture drip off.
  • Step 4: Cook the French Toast : Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a small amount of butter. Place coated bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Immediately sprinkle or press cinnamon sugar onto the hot toast while still in the pan for extra crunch.
