Ingredients

  • For the Chicken Wings:
  • 2 lbs (900 g) chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • For the Honey BBQ Sauce:
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional, for mild heat)
  • For the Ranch Dressing:
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup buttermilk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice or white vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Wings : Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. Pat the wings dry thoroughly with paper towels — this step ensures crisp skin. In a large bowl, toss wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder until evenly coated. Arrange them in a single layer on the rack.
  • Step 2: Bake the Wings : Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. For extra crispiness, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
  • Step 3: Make the Honey BBQ Sauce : In a saucepan over medium heat, combine barbecue sauce, honey, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and chili powder. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Step 4: Make the Ranch Dressing : In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning and consistency to taste. Chill until ready to serve.
  • Step 5: Toss the Wings : Once the wings are cooked and crispy, place them in a large bowl. Pour the warm honey BBQ sauce over them and toss until evenly coated. Serve immediately with ranch dressing on the side.
