Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2 lbs)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Honey Garlic Glaze:

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

For Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  • Prep the Chicken Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels for a crispier skin. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Sear the Chicken Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place chicken thighs skin-side down and cook for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp. Flip and cook another 5 minutes.
  • Prepare the Glaze In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, water, garlic, and vinegar. If you want a thicker sauce, dissolve cornstarch in water and add it in.
  • Combine Chicken and Glaze Pour the glaze over the chicken in the skillet. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until chicken is cooked through (internal temp 165°F/74°C). Uncover and let the sauce reduce until sticky and glossy, spooning over the chicken.
  • Finish and Serve Garnish with sesame seeds, parsley, or green onions. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or vegetables.
