For the Chicken:
- 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2 lbs)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Honey Garlic Glaze:
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 3 tablespoons water
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
For Garnish:
- Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Prep the Chicken Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels for a crispier skin. Season generously with salt and pepper.
Sear the Chicken Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place chicken thighs skin-side down and cook for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp. Flip and cook another 5 minutes.
Prepare the Glaze In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, water, garlic, and vinegar. If you want a thicker sauce, dissolve cornstarch in water and add it in.
Combine Chicken and Glaze Pour the glaze over the chicken in the skillet. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until chicken is cooked through (internal temp 165°F/74°C). Uncover and let the sauce reduce until sticky and glossy, spooning over the chicken.
Finish and Serve Garnish with sesame seeds, parsley, or green onions. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or vegetables.
