Ingredients

  • For the Ham
  • 1 fully cooked, bone-in ham (8–10 lbs)
  • Whole cloves (optional, for studding)
  • For the Glaze
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or orange juice
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves (optional, for warmth)
  • For Garnish
  • 1 can pineapple rings (about 10–12 slices)
  • Maraschino cherries (optional, for added festivity)
  • Toothpicks (to secure pineapple and cherries)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ham: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Place ham, flat side down, on a roasting rack inside a large roasting pan. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern with shallow cuts (about ¼ inch deep). This helps the glaze soak in. If desired, stud the intersections of cuts with whole cloves.
  • Prepare the Glaze: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and ground cloves. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture becomes glossy and slightly thickened (about 5 minutes).
  • Bake the Ham: Brush the ham generously with half of the glaze. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 1.5 hours, basting with glaze every 30 minutes.
  • Add Pineapple Rings: After 1.5 hours, remove the ham from the oven. Arrange pineapple rings over the ham, securing with toothpicks. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each ring if using. Brush with more glaze and return to oven uncovered.
  • Finish Baking: Bake for another 30–45 minutes, basting once or twice, until ham is deeply caramelized and pineapple is golden. Internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C) for reheating fully cooked ham.
  • Rest and Serve: Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
