Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) pasta (linguine, fettuccine, or spaghetti)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
  • Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  • Step 1: Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Lemon Butter Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned. Stir in lemon zest and juice.
  • Step 3: Combine Pasta, Peas, and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the lemon butter. Stir in peas and Parmesan cheese. Add reserved pasta water 1–2 tbsp at a time to loosen the sauce and create a silky texture. Season with salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  • Step 4: Serve: Divide pasta among plates or bowls. Garnish with extra Parmesan and fresh parsley.
