  • 1 can 15 ounces refried beans – Makes the dip hearty and gives it a smooth, substantial texture.

Instructions
 

  • Soften the cream cheese at room temperature until easy to mix.
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Drain excess grease and add taco seasoning with water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Mix softened cream cheese and sour cream in a large bowl until smooth.
  • Stir in refried beans, drained tomatoes with green chilies, and salsa.
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper, then mix well.
  • Stir in cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
  • Fold the cooked taco-seasoned beef into the creamy mixture.
  • Spread the mixture evenly into a 9-inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
  • Rest for 5 minutes, then add tomatoes, jalapeños, green onions, cilantro, and other desired toppings.
