Ingredients

  • For the Skewers:
  • 18–20 cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 18–20 mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • 18–20 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Toothpicks or small cocktail skewers
  • For the Balsamic Glaze:
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients : Rinse the cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves. Drain mozzarella balls and pat them dry using a paper towel.
  • Step 2: Make the Balsamic Glaze : In a small saucepan, pour in the balsamic vinegar. Add honey or brown sugar if desired. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and let it cook until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon (about 6–8 minutes). Remove from heat and allow to cool — it will thicken further as it cools.
  • Step 3: Assemble the Skewers : Thread one cherry tomato onto a toothpick. Add one basil leaf (fold if large). Follow with one mozzarella ball. Repeat the process until all ingredients are used.
  • Step 4: Dress and Season : Arrange skewers on a serving platter. Lightly drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Finish by drizzling the cooled balsamic glaze over the top.
