For the Sugar Cookies:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For Decoration:
- 1 cup candy melts (choose festive colors like green, purple, orange, and black)
- Candy eyeballs (small, medium, and large for a fun look)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Prepare the Cookie Dough Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined. Slowly add the dry mixture to form a soft dough.
Chill the Dough Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. This helps cookies hold their shape.
Bake the Cookies Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorate the Cookies Melt candy melts according to package instructions. Spread or drizzle melted candy over each cooled cookie. Immediately press candy eyeballs onto the surface. Add sprinkles if desired. Allow decorations to set completely.
