Ingredients

  • For the Shrimp:
  • 1 lb (450 g) medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • For the Tostadas:
  • 4–6 tostada shells (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup refried beans (canned or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Optional: sour cream or Mexican crema

Instructions

  • Preparing the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Sauté shrimp 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  • Assembling the Tostadas: Warm tostada shells slightly in the oven or skillet for extra crispiness. Spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell. Top with sautéed shrimp. Add shredded lettuce, diced tomato, shredded cheese, and avocado slices. Garnish with fresh cilantro and a drizzle of sour cream or crema if desired.
