Ingredients
For the Mongolian Beef:
1.5 pounds flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
3 green onions, sliced
For Serving:
3 cups cooked white or brown rice
Steamed broccoli or snap peas (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Slice beef thinly against the grain and toss with cornstarch.
Step 2: Brown beef in a skillet (optional) and transfer to slow cooker.
Step 3: Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, water, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes for sauce.
Step 4: Pour sauce over beef, cover, and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
Step 5: Stir in sliced green onions before serving.
Step 6: Serve over rice with vegetables.
