Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless, 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix or gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Season the Pork Chops : Sprinkle paprika, pepper, and salt over the pork chops. This helps to build flavor right from the beginning.
  • Step 2: Sear the Pork Chops : Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear pork chops for a few minutes on each side until lightly browned. This step enhances flavor but is optional if you are short on time.
  • Step 3: Prepare the Slow Cooker Base : Add sliced onions and minced garlic to the bottom of the slow cooker. These aromatics create a flavorful base for the gravy.
  • Step 4: Add the Pork Chops : Place the seared pork chops on top of the onions and garlic.
  • Step 5: Mix the Gravy Ingredients : In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, and onion soup mix. Mix well until smooth.
  • Step 6: Cooking the Dish : Pour the gravy mixture over the pork chops. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until pork chops are tender.
  • Step 7: Finish the Gravy : Stir in heavy cream or sour cream to add richness and creaminess. Cook for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Step 8: Serve : Garnish with parsley and serve warm with your choice of sides.
