Ingredients

  • For the Ribs:
  • 2 lbs (900 g) pork ribs, baby back or spare ribs
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • For the Honey Soy Glaze:
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced or grated
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • For Garnish:
  • 1–2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 scallions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ribs: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove silver skin from the back of the ribs if present. Season ribs with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Make the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and chili flakes. Marinate the Ribs (Optional but Recommended) Brush the glaze over the ribs and let them marinate for 30–60 minutes for deeper flavor.
  • Bake the Ribs: Place ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet or in a roasting pan. Cover tightly with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, until the meat is tender.
  • Glaze and Crisp: Remove foil and brush ribs with additional glaze. Increase oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) and bake for another 10–15 minutes, basting halfway through, until caramelized and sticky.
  • Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced scallions over the ribs. Serve immediately with steamed rice, noodles, or a fresh salad.
