Ingredients

  • For the Salmon:
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • For the Honey Glaze:
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1–2 tsp sriracha or chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp grated ginger (optional, for extra depth)
  • 1 tbsp butter, for finishing the glaze
  • For the Garlic Rice:
  • 1 cup jasmine or basmati rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth or water
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp chopped parsley or scallions for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Garlic Rice : In a saucepan, heat 1 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant but not browned. Add rice and stir to coat in the garlicky butter. Pour in broth (or water), add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes, until rice is fluffy and liquid is absorbed. Fluff with a fork, and keep warm.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Honey Glaze : In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar (or lime juice), minced garlic, sriracha, and grated ginger. Set aside — this will be your glaze.
  • Step 3: Cook the Salmon : Pat salmon fillets dry and season both sides with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon skin-side down (if skin-on) and cook for 4–5 minutes until the bottom is golden. Flip the fillets gently and cook the other side for 2–3 minutes.
  • Step 4: Add the Glaze : Pour the prepared honey glaze over the salmon. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer gently for 3–4 minutes, spooning the glaze over the fish as it thickens. Add 1 tbsp butter to the pan and swirl it in to make the glaze silky and glossy. The salmon is ready when it flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is sticky and caramelized.
  • Step 5: Serve : Spoon a generous portion of garlic rice onto each plate. Top with a glazed salmon fillet. Drizzle extra glaze from the pan over the rice and fish. Garnish with scallions, sesame seeds, or lime wedges for a beautiful finish.
